Notorious B.I.G. To Be Honored Posthumously With Esteemed ASCAP Founders Award At 30th Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards On June 22nd In Los Angeles

SUMMARY: The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers organization, or better known as ASCAP, is a “not-for-profit performance-rights organization (PRO)” that protects the music copyrights of its members, and making sure they are compensated accordingly.  Recently, ASCAP announced that it would be hosting its 30th annual Rhythm and Soul Music Awards in late June.  In addition to the monumental 30 years of hosting this event, the organization announced it would be honoring late hip-hop legend Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace with the ASCAP Founders Award.  This esteemed award is presented to those songwriters and composers who have pioneered musical avenues for other music creators.  Past recipients of this award include Stevie Wonder, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Quincy Jones and Steven Tyler.

After Japan quake, fund makes local kids’ college hopes real

SUMMARY The news release is from Starbucks Community & Responsibility, starting with a touching story of Japan’s 9.0 earthquake on March 11, 2011. Hiroki Endo, who survived the earthquake, lost his parents and gave up many of his hopes for the future. That’s where the Michinoku Future Fund came in. The fund provides scholarships for students like Hiroki Endo who lost one or both parents due to the quake. Starbucks Japan helps support the fund through the Hummingbird Starbucks Card, introduced in September 2012. Nintendo Brings Its Latest Games to Navy Pier

Nintendo is taking their gaming systems on tour this summer with their 2017 Summer of Play tour. The popular gaming company will be taking their Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS systems to cities across the country, giving families the opportunity to play some of their new games while enjoying a Nintendo playground full of family friendly games and activities. The event in Chicago, IL was held July 7-9 at Navy Pier and featured photo opportunities with visuals of Nintendo characters like Mario and Luigi and the inklings from the Splatoon series.
