After Japan quake, fund makes local kids’ college hopes real

SUMMARY The news release is from Starbucks Community & Responsibility, starting with a touching story of Japan’s 9.0 earthquake on March 11, 2011. Hiroki Endo, who survived the earthquake, lost his parents and gave up many of his hopes for the future. That’s where the Michinoku Future Fund came in. The fund provides scholarships for students like Hiroki Endo who lost one or both parents due to the quake. Starbucks Japan helps support the fund through the Hummingbird Starbucks Card, introduced in September 2012. Nintendo is taking their gaming systems on tour this summer with their 2017 Summer of Play tour. The popular gaming company will be taking their Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS systems to cities across the country, giving families the opportunity to play some of their new games while enjoying a Nintendo playground full of family friendly games and activities.
